We are so excited to reveal this kitchen that’s been in the works since June of last year! Inspired by the client’s colorful taste and the homes of her family in The Philippines, we leaned into the wild for this design. The client first told us that she wanted terra cotta floors and green countertops, aligning perfectly with our lead designer’s personal colorful design style. From there it was just a matter of selecting the right materials and making a well-functioning design. One of the toughest decisions in this kitchen was the floor tile. We went round and round looking at multiple different terra cotta options, and found a few we enjoyed, but ultimately the client didn’t want the upkeep that comes with natural terra cotta. In the end we found an option that looks and feels like natural terra cotta, but the tile is actually made of a recycled porcelain body. This means that the tiles are not only more eco-friendly, but they’re also way easier to clean and upkeep than a natural terra cotta would be. The client is ecstatic with how the kitchen turned out and loves spending time there cooking and entertaining with friends and family.
