Three Reasons to Remodel

If you have never remodeled your home or know nothing about remodeling, the home redesign process can be a very grueling process. However if you employ a little help from a professional remodeler it will take a lot of weight off your shoulders. Thousands of people live in their homes without ever remodeling because they fear all the work involved. They find it easier to just add a coat of paint or buy new couches for a new look. Redesigning is very important for quite a number of reasons but here are three that are crucial, and which should drive you to remodel your home as soon as it needs to be.

Keeping your home just warm enough or just cool enough during the summer is a major factor to consider when the thought to redesign crosses your mind. Remodeling with a professional can bring the added benefit a home performance audit when requested. You may be able to cut your energy costs dramatically by having an energy audit then performing recommended improvements.

What comes first for most people as a reason for remodeling is aesthetics. Women especially love beautiful homes and this is our second most important reason for redesigning your house. After staying in the same house for a long time you get tired of the décor and it can take its toll on you. When you stop enjoying your showers and prefer to leave your home rather than stay in for absolutely no reason, it may be time for a remodeling contractor.

Styles change and sometimes it’s just nice to be able to enjoy a change in your home.. This is not just to comply with societal expectations because some old designs are still very fancy to have in a home. One of the most common statements we hear is, we should have done this sooner so we could have enjoyed it longer. Remodeling allows you to utilize space more efficiently it can save you money on energy bills, and offers you a chance to experience what new home designers and remodelers are coming up with. Home design and remodeling is to be embraced if you want to love your home and not just live in it. There you have it, your third reason for remodeling your home.

Making doors easier for people with mobility challenges

Sunday, September 22nd, 2013

We made this NW Portland condo much easier for the new owner.  We widened the pinch points to make movement through the home easier in a wheelchair.  We also widened doors and added hinges to allow for a greater door opening access.  We also added a door handle that allowed for easier opening and closing by giving many more options for actuating the door.

Check out the following video for an example of the door upgrades:  VIDEO

C&K Custom Remodeling 503-REMODEL

503-REMODEL

It’s no longer just our work that is memorable we also have acquired a memorable phone number. I was told be several different people from several different companies that the number would never be released.

I used the same blue collar persistence that is making C&K Custom Remodeling a success to overcome one thousand people saying no. I know deep in my gut that I only had to find one person, the right person, and get them to say yes. I believed I was right and turns out I was. One person saying yes overturned 1000 people saying no.

Our incredible t-shirts can be purchased also.  To purchase t-shirts of the worlds best remodeling company ( my biased opinion ) simple send me an email on the contact us page at CkCustomRemodeling.com

Tub or Shower The Great Debate

When it comes to needing a bathtub in you home their are a couple different schools of thought.  Traditional real estate agents will confirm that you need to have at least one bathtub to protect resale value.  However the tide is rapidly turning to the opinion that a well done display shower can have many advantages.  A person must first decide if they ever do use a bathtub or if they use it enough to justify the space a bathtub takes up in a bathroom.

The homes location will have an affect on which bathroom layout makes sense for you.  A neighborhood with a lot of young families might require a bathtub for small children.  On the other hand, in  a more developed community with an older population having a bathtub may be a liability.

Finally when making the decision to keep or eliminate a bathtub many people overlook the value of enjoyment.  If you plan on living in a home for five or more years the time spent enjoying a tub or shower will likely out way any perceived changes in home resale value.  Bottom line is that there are no blanket rules of thumb.

As I contractor I most often hear we would prefer a shower but we want to protect our resale value.  If so many people are saying where is there added resale value in keeping a bathtub?

KITCHEN DESIGN

Kitchen lighting

Great kitchen design is built around proper arrangement of areas called work centers.  This includes each individual work center, aisles for flow, anticipated activities in every area, and passageways.

In the past Kitchens were usually planned on 3 basic work centers which include: the sink and mixing area, dishwasher space, the refrigerator, and the cooking center.  Modern kitchens consist of more and more focused work areas.  A second sink i0s not uncommon as well as alternative cook top with a vent system, microwave unit, and built in oven (convectional or convection or both).

Heat flooring is a delicate process requiring years of training and experience to be installed properly.  Anyone install these type of floors should be trained by the manufacturer to know how to install and how to test the system both before and after the finished floor is installed.  At C&K we use digital programming systems that allow for preset heating temperatures through out your day.  This means no cold floors in teh moring or evening.  Heated tile flooring also acts as a radiant heating system worming the room from the bottom up.
