Three Reasons to Remodel

If you have never remodeled your home or know nothing about remodeling, the home redesign process can be a very grueling process. However if you employ a little help from a professional remodeler it will take a lot of weight off your shoulders. Thousands of people live in their homes without ever remodeling because they fear all the work involved. They find it easier to just add a coat of paint or buy new couches for a new look. Redesigning is very important for quite a number of reasons but here are three that are crucial, and which should drive you to remodel your home as soon as it needs to be.

Keeping your home just warm enough or just cool enough during the summer is a major factor to consider when the thought to redesign crosses your mind. Remodeling with a professional can bring the added benefit a home performance audit when requested. You may be able to cut your energy costs dramatically by having an energy audit then performing recommended improvements.

What comes first for most people as a reason for remodeling is aesthetics. Women especially love beautiful homes and this is our second most important reason for redesigning your house. After staying in the same house for a long time you get tired of the décor and it can take its toll on you. When you stop enjoying your showers and prefer to leave your home rather than stay in for absolutely no reason, it may be time for a remodeling contractor.

Styles change and sometimes it’s just nice to be able to enjoy a change in your home.. This is not just to comply with societal expectations because some old designs are still very fancy to have in a home. One of the most common statements we hear is, we should have done this sooner so we could have enjoyed it longer. Remodeling allows you to utilize space more efficiently it can save you money on energy bills, and offers you a chance to experience what new home designers and remodelers are coming up with. Home design and remodeling is to be embraced if you want to love your home and not just live in it. There you have it, your third reason for remodeling your home.

Top 3 bathroom design ideas

When taking on the challenge of a bathroom remodel you first need to determine how you want your bathroom to look. In terms of Bathroom design, you may go with a regular design or with a luxurious design, with the former being a cut above your standard bathroom design. With that in mind, below we’re going to take a closer look at some of the options you may go with in this regard.

Contemporary

If you’ll go with a contemporary bathroom design, then you should focus on selecting elements that are mostly constructed of industrial materials and are also sleek. Go for glass and stainless steel vanities with low profile vessel sinks or built in sinks in either stainless steel or glass. For the flooring, you may want to go for stone flooring like concrete or slate. Next is the decoration, for which you should go with a single bold color, like bright yellow or red and then add a few accents of the chosen color, such as a large piece of wall art or a floor rug.

Traditional

If a traditional and luxurious bathroom is what you want to create, then go for pieces that reflect both luxury and comfort. Furniture style vanities that feature rich food finishes, like mahogany, oak or cherry are recommended. As for the flooring, you should get hardwood flooring in the same tones. For vanity tops and flooring, both granite and marble will work just fine, but you should stay away from dark gray or black tones, because they will interrupt your traditional finish. In terms of the color of your walls, a soft color will do, like beige.

Country

Lastly, if you want a country bathroom remodeling, then you should go for upscale country elements, like claw foot or copper pedestal tubs. The hardwood flooring should be chosen in lighter tones, like sky blue, sage green or soft pink. Lastly, you can complete the bathroom by adding accents.

As you can see, these are the main tips you should consider depending on the type of bathroom remodeling you want to go with. Good luck with your project!

Home owners considering planning to stay in their home should know about remodeling projects that increase the home’s usefulness and make it better to live in. A 2012 National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) survey of remodelers found the following five most common remodeling jobs.

Housing market data reveals that small, smart remodels reward home owners with better return on investment and can help update and customize a home. Review these top five remodeling projects and begin planning to remodel during National Home Remodeling Month.

  1. Remodel the bathroom

Payback on remodeling a bathroom can reach 65 percent with new fixtures, tile, toilet, vanity and lighting. Low flow toilets consumer less water and can decrease the monthly water bill.

  1. Remodel the kitchen

A minor kitchen remodel can improve the look and utility of the space without costing a bundle, and yields a 75 percent return. Consider replacing backsplashes, cabinet fronts, countertops, and flooring. Installing low-flow faucets and energy-efficient appliances can also reduce water and energy expenses in a heavily trafficked room.

  1. Replace windows and doors

Updating windows can also return a solid portion of the investment (73 percent for wood frames and 71 percent for vinyl). New, energy-efficient doors and windows also help reduce energy leakage from the home and can bring down heating and cooling bills.

  1. Repair property damage

Property damage is a common but unfortunate occurrence. Seize misfortune as an opportunity to customize and upgrade the home. If you are already going to be inconvenienced with major home repairs, take that time to plan and incorporate home remodeling that may have been put off in the past.

  1. Whole house remodeling

Repairs and replacements of old components and the desire for upgraded amenities were cited as the top reasons for customers to hire a remodeler. Evaluate the use of the entire home to see if it fits your needs. Home owners are repurposing spaces to fit their families and making more efficient use of their home’s square footage and equity, rather than moving to a new home and mortgage.

Smart remodeling projects for improving the home can make the home more comfortable for your lifestyle.
